VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH - May 2009
Sandie Reilly
This month's VOTM is Sandie Reilly. Sandie started riding in 2006 in order to ride in the Bike MS. Sandie has MS herself. She had only 3 1/2 weeks to train but she did it! After that she rode with a group of men out of the Oakland bike shop. Where were all the women riders? Her first centry was the BTCNJ Ramapo Rally which she did never having ridden mor than 30 miles previously.
Possibly the pinnacle of volunteering is the conceive and develp something completely new that adds to the clug's appeal. Sandie has been a menber of BTCNJ for just over a year, during which she has been instrumentatl in developing women-specific rides in her Ladies Development Clinic rides to help build confidence and riding ability of women cyclists. One goal is "to create a place for women". Rides at different levels are aimed a developing riding technique and ultimately a women's racing team. She has a wonderful sense of humor, is extremely patient and share knowledge freely. "Riding has given me a new lease on life" says Sandie.
Thanks you for your dedication to the BTCNJ.
