Board Profile - Vice President: Joan Brickman
Hi! My name is Joan Brickman and I have been a member of BTCNJ since 2002.
I am a Long Island, New York native who moved to Northern New Jersey (West Milford) because
this quiet, rural community reminded me a bit of the Adirondacks. I realized that cycling alone
was not as much fun nor as safe as riding with a group of cyclist, so I reached out to a number
of clubs and found that BTCNJ members to be very active and friendly.
From the first ride forward, other club members were encouraging me to try different types of rides
and different levels. Their support has allowed me to grow as a cyclist and I now try to do the
same for every new member I meet. Presently, because I like social riding, I am a C* rider. However,
the most rewarding rides are the ones that I lead, which tend to be D/C and new member rides.
Being part of the club for me has not just been about riding. Soon after I joined the club, I was volunteering
to help with the differing BTCNJ activities, and through this, I have met a most wonderful group of people and some
life long friends. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this club.
