BTCNJ Picnic

Sunday, June 7

Sure, the Summer Solstice isn't until June 21, but as far as BTCNJ is concerned, summer is definitely here! June 7 is the date of our annual Picnic and that means food, fun and biking! Who knows? There might even be three-legged races, dodge ball, or badminton. What we can promise is a great time catching up with old friends and making new ones while we enjoy gorgeous weather (the National Weather Service has been forewarned), good food and, of course, terrific rides in all categories.

This year's club picnic will be held at Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah, NJ. What's the cost for participation, you ask? FOOD! You'll bring one pot- luck dish that will feed 6-8 people. Bring two if you're feeling especially frisky in the kitchen! There will be no shortage of big appetites. Just find the category below in which your last name appears and please bring that food (the club provide hamburgers, hot dogs and non-alcoholic beverages):

  • A through C - Fruit
  • D through H - Desserts
  • I through M - Salads, greens, pasta, etc.
  • N through S - Main Dishes
  • T through Z - Snacks, Pretzels, Chips, dips, etc.

Gates open at 7:30 am for ride starts. If you plan on riding that day, please do not drop off food before your ride, as the ride will probably be departing before the picnic set-up crew arrives. Remember to properly store perishables on ice-it will be a few hours before they are consumed. Please bring lawn chairs, blankets, and whatever else you need to be comfortable, as the picnic area seats approximately 30-40 people.

NO ALCOHOL PLEASE!

Claudia Dukeshire has generously offered to coordinate this year's picnic, so please contact her with any questions. Her phone number is 201-818- 0480, or you can e-mail her at claudia_dukeshire@hotmail.com.

Please help Claudia by standing up to the plate and volunteering to help her buy the food, setup, and breakdown when we're all done eating.

Oh, and if you can, bring along some folding tables and drop them off before you begin your ride. Seating (and table space) might be limited if there is a good turn-out on the day.
